Coccidiosis prevention: from hatcheries to producers

27 January, 2020

Measures for coccidiosis prevention at hatchery level are currently taken worldwide.  However, are there any particular aspect that should be carefully considered?

Vaccination against coccidiosis in hatcheries has become a common practice in poultry since some years ago.

The vaccination is performed on the hatch day before the chicks are being placed on farm within a potentially contaminated environment.

It has been demonstrated that coccidiosis prevention at hatchery level leads to a better vaccine coverage and an increase of the vaccination efficiency.

Moreover, it decreases the cost of production. Despite that, there is a particular issue that should be taken into account in this practice:

How can the producers be sure that the chicks have been correctly vaccinated?  In other words, how can the hatchery demonstrate that they have vaccinated according to protocol?

HIPRAlink® Vaccination: The tool for controlling the measures for the coccidiosis prevention.

To address this issue adequately, HIPRA has developed HIPRAlink® Vaccination, a digital platform that helps hatchery managers to control, analyse and certificate their vaccination sessions.

With HIPRAlink® Vaccination, all the vaccination data is automatically collected during the vaccination activity and can be shared with the producer in a total transparent manner.

Therefore, thanks to HIPRAlink® Vaccination, the producer can be totally sure that chicks are vaccinated in the hatchery according to protocol for coccidiosis prevention.

HIPRAlink® Vaccination: How is the service implemented?

In order to have the complete traceability between a hatchery and a producer, both parties are given a Hipralink® account.

From one side, the hatchery will be able to control, analyse and certificate their vaccinations and on the other side the producer will receive the certification report instantly with all the complete information of the vaccination sessions, which will proof coccidiosis prevention has been duly performed.

  • Control: The hatchery managers can easily check the vaccination data of each session: Date and hour, number of doses, number of chicks, product information, speed of the session, farm, etc. Vaccination’s data is recorded automatically and is objective, transparent and trustworthy.
  • Analyse: HIPRAlink® Vaccination is able to generate vaccination statistic graphics of the performance (ex. Evolution of number of doses) and export all the information in Excels/pdf.
  • Certificate: The hatchery manager can generate traceability reports that can be shared immediately with the producer.
