The 2025 Coccidiosis Experiences Challenge successfully showcased the value of real-world data in advancing coccidiosis control in broiler production.
In total, the 2025 edition received 10 abstracts from 8 countries. After scientific evaluation, three field experiences were selected as Top 3 winners:
- Turkey – Abalioglu Lezita: Microbiome restoration and anticoccidial sensitivity recovery
A field study conducted in Turkey evaluated the impact of an attenuated coccidiosis vaccine on caecal microbiome restoration and the recovery of anticoccidial sensitivity in broiler production cycles. The results showed improved microbial balance and enhanced intestinal health. - Belgium – DAP Medipro: Reduction of antibiotic usage through coccidiosis control
In Belgium, a large-scale study assessed how preventive coccidiosis control programs combining vaccination and coccidiostats could reduce antibiotic use in broiler farms. The program achieved a significant reduction in antibiotic consumption while maintaining productive performance in the attenuated coccidia vaccine group. - Ukraine – PE GOVI: Broiler resilience to avian pathogenic coli
A study in Ukraine investigated how an attenuated coccidia vaccine could enhance broiler resilience to avian pathogenic E. coli. The results indicated improved intestinal integrity and reduced bacterial pressure while maintaining strong productive parameters.
The winning abstracts will be presented at the 69th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP), July 2026, in Orlando, providing international visibility to their work.
We thank all participants for their valuable contribution and look forward to the 2026 edition of the Challenge.
